i didn’t remember this man with his barcelonaish- sounding name being one of the famous artist that i’ve studied before in mufy until i entered his gallery.

can you believe that such a talented artist had once pranced across the surface of the earth, the ground where we’re all standing on now. its pretty much like Jesus don’t you think? being completely unordinary, he was stripped of his comfort zone in heaven to be one of us with an ordinary occupation. you know how the bible promised that each of us has a different talent? why is it that there’s only one salvador dali, one picasso, one van gogh or just one mozart? what about the rest of us who express different interest in music, arts and every other things? we could only go to museums and concerts to admire those who are famous before or after us. why can’t we be the one with our work being displayed and discussed by other wannabe artists? if each of us have our own individual talent, why only a small percentage of people who can stand out and make themselves famous even when most of them are deceased?

anywayyyyy…

there were about 8 sections of his works displayed in ngv, we only managed to cover 1 of the 8. however it is enough to convince me that salvador dali is indeed talented. i realise how he is not limited to one type of art and many different kinds. and he switches his focus from one to another throughout his whole life. sculptures, oil paintings, filmography…etc.

modern cartoons, cute stick figures and random scenery sketches we all have in our notebooks may look attractive, but compare to dali’s even before madrid, it is considered effortless.

towards the later part of his life, his paintings became more and more sadistically erotic. by the time he finished his last piece of masterpiece, it became so geometric that i no longer comprehend the meaning behind his art. i don’t have much appreciation for geometry, but incase you want to see how the swallow’s tail look like, here goes!

(i didnt get the picture from ngv’s website so the colour is obviously super off)

i really really like this art exhibition and will definitely need to go back again. this time i’ll make sure that i’ll have the whole day inside so that i can get a glimpse of everything. i know i wont probably remember all the pictures but at least i can tell people  i’ve seen salvador dali’s original oil paintings before. and his melting clock is simply….

A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!

next blogging topic: homosexuality

((i think i should start punctuating properly from now on))
